Trueform personal trainer, Brian Starks, raced too, and coached these ladies all the way to the start line.
The New York City Marathon has grown from a race that consisted of laps around Central Park and 55 finishers, to a race that goes through all five boroughs (Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx & Manhattan) and that is the world’s largest marathon with nearly 50, 000 finishers in 2015!
Brian’s two cents…
It’s not just about the race itself, the days leading up to the race add to the New York City Marathon experience. The Race Expo is a must! It showcases the latest in virtually anything related to running and fitness, and all the major brands are represented there with their own versions of NYC Marathon race swag.
The energy at this race was unlike any I’ve ever experienced! 1 million cheering fans line the course and there is entertainment every mile – from gospel singers performing on the steps of an ornate church to dancers in Spanish Harlem. They describe the race as “a 26.2 mile block party” – and it is!
There’s no tour of New York City that comes close the New York City Marathon “tour”! It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience. I’d challenge anyone to add this race to his or her bucket list.
Trueform is proud to present the 2nd annual Beer Mile & BBQ, a client appreciation event (open to our friends that train at Trueform and a date, kidlets, etc).
Valerie Dennis, an inspiring Trueform client, summited Huayna Picchu this past spring at 70 years young, in an effort to visit what she describes as “absolutely out of this world” Machu Picchu on her decent.
It seems kind of ironic that James came to Trueform primarily looking to increase strength, when this guy is already one of the strongest people we know! Meet James, blind since birth…
